We hadn’t been outside the UK since Covid and this was our first ever trip to Italy so we needed to buy lots of travel essentials and we felt like we were spending so much money even before traveling! Most of our essential purchases were made from familiar sources like Amazon, Boots, and Primark, as we aimed to ensure we had everything we needed in time for our trip.

Being an active Prime member, we found ourselves using Amazon on a regular basis.

  • Anti-Theft Shoulder Bag – I had never been to Italy and I was really worried about my belongings so I bought an anti theft shoulder bag.
  • After Sun lotion – I’m glad I bought it… the Italian sun was strong!
  • Ryanair Airline cabin bags – Opting for two Ryanair airline cabin bags was undoubtedly a worthwhile decision. They are value for money, lightweight and get the job done well. They look small but you can actually fit many things in.
  • Mobile Phone case – Fearing potential pickpocket incidents, I chose a phone case equipped with a strap. An extra layer of security for my peace of mind.
  • Waterproof Phone pouch – It is very useful and good quality.
  • Anker Power Bank – Daughter1 made frequent use of it during our trip.
  • Travel adaptor plugs – They are essential for us as we all use mobile phones and needed to charge them at hotels.
  • Sun protection lip balm – To keep our lips safe from the sun, I purchased a sun-protective lip balm. We mainly used it at the beach.

Boots

We didn’t buy many things from Boots this time. We have sensitive skin so finding a suitable sun cream can be a challenge for us. However, this year, the large Boots store nearby had a good selection available, so it was easy to get it. As much as I like shopping online for the convenience, there’s something reassuring about physically seeing the products before making a purchase.

  • Sun cream – If you’re traveling to Italy in the summer, sun cream is an absolute must-have. The Italian sunlight is incredibly intense! You can easily get burnt.
  • travel toiletries – For our travel toiletries, we made sure to pack essentials like face wash, facial toner, toothpaste, and more.

Primark

We relied on Primark so much this time, from flipflops to suitcases. It truly became our go-to saviour!

  • Suitcases – It was our first time flying with Ryan air. We needed the suitcases to fit requirements for carry on.
  • flipflops – At just £1 each, these flip-flops proved to be a steal! They served us wonderfully on the beach, around the hotel, and even for casual strolls.
  • Clear toiletry bag and bottles – Another budget-friendly find at only £1 each, these clear toiletry bags came complete with empty bottles – a practical addition to our travel setup.
  • Summer dresses – They were already on sale at around £5 each during our shopping spree. They were perfect to wear over swim suits and also dried quickly after wash.
